Facts about the new entry system for all access members

Facebooktwitter

We have started the conversions to give our Annual All Access Members their Proximity Cards.

What that means is that Annual All Access members in good standing will have the ability to let themselves into an event until closing time.

So, if you are an Annual All Access Member and happen to be a night owl and only want to show up for the last hour of the party, you can do that! Late for class and the door is closed? No problem, let yourself in. This cool new system will unlock the front door to let you into the building, and also checks you in, so no worries about hunting down a door person or making special arrangements.

What this means for now…while we work out any kinks in the system:

  • Weeknight Classes that begin at 7:30pm: You can let yourself in until 9:30pm.
  • As a rule, All Access Members will be able to use their cards for two (2) hours after start time for anything other than parties.
  • Early Party: You can let yourself in until Midnight
  • Party Closing at 1:00am: You can let yourself in until 1:00am

We are sure we will discover ways to make this better as we move along, but that’s where we are starting.

TO GET YOUR PROX KEY:

SHOW UP AT ONE OF THE “CONVERSION” TIMES ON THE CALENDAR. THERE ARE CONVERSIONS EVERY DAY UNTIL MAY 3RD. VISIT THE CALENDAR FOR SPECIFIC TIMES.

Starting May 1st, there will also be an auto-attendant in the front office next to the Door Volunteer. If the Door Volunteer is busy, you can scan yourself in! If the screen turns green, you are good to go!

Some Q&A for Annual All Access Members:

Q. Will I get a new card?
A. Yes. You will get a cool prox. card that hangs on your key chain. It doesn’t have a logo and there is no identification, so it can be on your keys without worry.

Q. What about my bar-coded card?
A. You want to keep this. This is your membership card for the benefit of reciprocity, as well as a few other things, so Annual All Access Members will have both. At some stage, maybe that changes, but today we will use both.

Q. So, does my membership number change?
A. Yes. The prox. cards have a whole different numbering system, so Annual All Access members will have a different number for the time they are Annual All Access Members. Keeping your bar-code card though means if you are ever NOT an Annual All Access Member you will revert to the bar-code.

Q. Why only Annual All Access Members?
A. Because if they are in good standing (meaning, current, with no expired cards or payment failures), Annual All Access members don’t need to see a door volunteer. This system will also have an “auto-attendant” while the door is open, so they can check themselves in if they choose.

Q. What if I need to renew, or I have to change my credit card, or a payment failed?
A. You will still need to see a person at the door just like normal. Keep track of your expiration date (on your bar-coded card) and see someone at the door.

Q. How do I get this magical card?
A. We are doing training right now so that we will have enough people to handle all of our Annual All Access Members. We will be doing paperwork and conversions April 24th -April 29th in order to have everyone ready for the May 1st launch. If you come in at one of those “Annual All Access Card Conversion” times, there will be door folks present to walk you through how it works, and sign an agreement that you understand. The conversion schedule is below and will be on our calendar shortly.

Q. Do we have to sign something?
A. Yes, but it is short. We need to share the rules of the new benefit like not letting other people in with you, and making sure everyone knows if their account is not in good standing they need to see a door person. We also need to verify with you that the name we have in our system is the one that will show on the screen when you check in, so it is important that the information is correct!

Q. Do I have to participate if I am an Annual All Access Member?
A. Nope. Completely voluntary. You can keep doing just what you are doing and we will be happy to check you in just like we always have.

Q. So, when can I come in?
A. When there is an event, your new card can be used to get in once the front door is locked for most of the remainder of the event. So, for example: On a Monday Night the door closes at 8:30pm, but All Access Members will be able to enter until 9:15pm. For a Saturday Night Party, your card will get you in until 1am.

Q. You didn’t answer my question!
A. Email us at Contact@ArizonaPowerExchange.org or come to one of the “Annual All Access Card Conversion” dates.

The Kinky Bucket Returns in 2019

FacebooktwitterIn 2018, we introduced the Kinky Bucket List.  We asked for:

  • Classes you want to see
  • Events you would like to attend
  • Changes to the Space
  • Things you would like to try
  • Anything APEX members can make happen!

so that together, we could make APEX all we want it to be!

In 2018 we had 114 things in the kinky bucket. 82 of those happened with several in the works!

Some of those included:

  • Specific presenters
  • LOTS of classes
  • Requested Hosted Play Space fetishes
  • 101/202 Content
  • Preparty Workshop Content
  • Themed Parties
  • Even party food!

In 2019 we commit to doing a better job of telling you what was based on the Kinky Bucket! Keep your eyes on the screens for updates!

Again for 2019 throughout the space there will be buckets where you can add what you want APEX to be for you.

  • Classes you want to see
  • Events you would like to attend
  • Changes to the Space
  • Things you would like to try
  • Anything APEX members can make happen!

URGENT CALENDAR CHANGES NOVEMBER 3rd and November 4th

FacebooktwitterThe APEX parking lot is being resurfaced! While that is good news, it is short notice to move some things around.

We will be able to walk it on Saturday evening, so the regular Saturday party will still happen. However, we have had to bump the time to 6:30pm to make sure.

Also, there will be NO parking in any part of the parking lot. We will have to park on the street. Fair warning, it is fresh asphalt, so it WILL transfer on your shoes. Plan your footwear acccordingly. Also, please wipe your feet when you you come in to avoid tracking it all over the space.

All other weekend activities have had to be moved, and because our calendar is SO full, some had to be put off until next month. Please see the calendar for details.

Thank you for understanding!Facebooktwitter

2018 is going to be an amazing year for Volunteering

Facebooktwitter2018 is going to be our best year yet. We are mixing things up this year with new training, and we want some fresh new blood in the program!  APEX is only as good as the people who serve, and we want to all be our best.

We will be working hard to do regular updates here and on the  APEX Fetlife.com group with some key positions that need to be claimed in 2018! Did you know, some of these can even be done from home?!
___

Some things to get you started:

Volunteer Drive and Social

Every quarter in 2018 there will be a Volunteer Drive and Social
Learn about some of the things available, what needs doing this year, and how you can volunteer to help make APEX your own!

There will be snacks and drinks and lots of people to talk to!
___

Volunteer Orientation

Each month in 2018 there will also be a Volunteer Orientation

All of our Volunteers want to create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space for our fellow members. We are merely limited by our understanding and knowledge of how to do that. APEX worked hard in 2017 to support our volunteers with additional training and opportunities to learn. We are doubling down in 2018 with even more tools to put into your toolbox, only this time is it for everyone who volunteers at APEX, not just DM and Door Volunteers, but EVERYONE. We all want to be the best we can be, and APEX can help!

Each Volunteer will be given the foundation to further explore your APEX community, learn about how you can be more a part of the club each day, every time you walk into our space. In Volunteer Orientation we will look at the mission, vision, and values of APEX, and how you can contribute. This class will help you be not only a successful volunteer, but also a successful member-where your role as a volunteer falls in that, and how to be happy and successful in your position. Volunteer Orientation will also provide you the tools and support available to you on your journey at APEX.

More Training Available to Volunteers in 2018

Volunteer Workshop

APEX has committed to successful volunteers in 2018.  The management team at APEX has spent several years creating a healthy and functional management culture, and we want to bring this exceptional environment to all APEX Volunteers.
You don’t need to be “prepared” to attend this workshop, you just need a willingness to be the best team and club we can be, and be present and participate.
This workshop does not include silly exercises and time-wasting games, it is real work. We will work on ourselves, on our ability to be part of a healthy and productive team in order to make APEX the greatest club it can be!
While we hope every APEX Volunteer will eventually attend these training, the first few will be invitation-only while we make sure we are delivering on our goals.

Management Communications: Coaching, counseling, having hard conversations with members (June, 2018)

Incident Management: What to do if something goes REALLY wrong. Previously only available to Door and DM Volunteers, this is a great way to truly understand how to respond to a variety of things, and what our processes look like.  (First class April, 2018)

APEX Structure and Policies: Why we are structured like we are, why policy exists, and why our club looks like it does.

While our structure and policies are available to members, there’s a difference between reading something in a vacuum and understanding it.  We will talk through why we are structured like we are, why some of those funny things exist, what is a legal requirement, and what is the up for us to decide. (May, 2018)

___

We hope everyone will participate this year in some small way. Many hands make light work and all that!
___

There are also NEW programs in 2018 that we are very excited about.

New Member Orientation Team
APEX is committed to providing lots of quality orientations in 2018. With that goal we created the New Member Orientation Team! An hour of our time creates successful new members, and helps each of us feel more responsible for our club.
