Non-monogamy Pitfalls
Exploring non-monogamy involves navigating various pitfalls crucial for maintaining healthy relationships. This course will review several common pitfalls in non-monogamy:
- Understanding your motives, often overlooked, is foundational. Knowing why you pursue non-monogamy helps align expectations and communicate needs effectively.
- Assumptions can create misunderstandings; presuming shared beliefs without dialogue can lead to conflict. People-pleasing, while well-intentioned, might compromise personal boundaries in non-monogamous dynamics, risking individual fulfillment.
- Jealousy, a common emotional hurdle, requires honest acknowledgment and open dialogue to address insecurities.
- The euphoria of New Relationship Energy (NRE) can overshadow existing commitments, demanding mindfulness and balance.
Acknowledging these pitfalls and learning how to address this can support in fostering introspection, communication, and empathy, vital for nurturing fulfilling non-monogamous connections.
