Predicament Ties (stress/partials)
Requirements : Passing familiarity with tying, know a single/double column
Suggested attendance at Intro to Rope or similar prior to this class
Materials : Up to five (5) pieces of rope (any kind) at least 25’ long (there will be rope available to use.) The more rope, the more comfy. The less rope, the less comfy.
Safety cutters (either knife or scissors) - (will also have available.)
Class Time : approximately 1 hour
Lab Time : to fill in remainder of scheduled event
Partner required : Yes, there’s really no way to do this solo.
***
Class will begin with a short-ish discussion on the following : how to negotiate a rope scene; consent (including underlying power dynamics stated or implied); safety issues and how to handle them (both casually and in an emergency); physical issues and nerve/circulation information specific to tying.
This class will go over how to combine prior ties (body harnesses, shrimp and frog ties, etc) along with specifically positioned rope to amplify the stress / predicament possibilities with your partner. Partials will involve only lifting your partner yourself with the use of either yourself or commonly available hardpoints / hardware.
Lab time afterwards will be available for attendees to practice, ask questions, and get feedback/pointers as needed. Ideally, everyone will leave the event with at least a basic understanding of the class materials.
